President’s Message for August 2019

Our first month is in the books! And what a grand month it was: installations, inducting new members, finding the gavel….

August is MEMBERSHIP month, when we energize our membership with new blood, new visitors, fun events and forming new friendships. Exciting times in Rotary as we look to add names to our rosters and to form new alliances!

One such alliance is the creation of club membership committees, not relying on a single chair person. With the formation of a committee, we have fresh ways to look at membership attraction, and the opportunity to infuse diversity into our ranks. When the new committee suggests–then implements–their membership attraction strategy, the members catch the renewed spirit of a vibrant club, a double whammy!

Several clubs are trying new approaches that are worth mentioning: Rotary Days in the Park, meet-and-greet socials, community appreciation events/socials, prizes for bringing in members, a lottery among sponsors for a prize (dinner, gift certificate, weekend package), miniature golf, family inclusive events/picnics, and the list grows. However, 4 clubs in the Titusville area are hosting a Membership Seminar on August 15th.

Titusville, Titusville Sunrise, North Brevard County and Viera are inviting members to the La Cita Country Club from 5:30 p.m. for hors d’oeuvres and social hour ($15 per person) with the event starting at 6:30. The keynote speaker is George Robinson-Burnett, Zone 34 Regional Membership Coordinator. Space is limited so contact Bruce Lysne (blysne@att.net) of the Titusville Sunrise club or Troy Post (troy.post@brevardcounty.us) of the Titusville club.

And remember our families! We encourage bringing partners and other family members to meetings and events. Have a neighborhood social where Rotarians and friends get together for fun and socializing.

Of course, we are a member organization that does good in the community and in the world. Invite coworkers, neighbors and family to our service organizations. Do you remember your impressions the first time you were in the food packing line? When you played Santa’s helper for underprivileged kids? After your arm ached from pouring more beer than you’ve ever consumed?

We are proud to be ROTARIANS! Be proud to be a sponsor. Be happy and greet our visitors like they belong amongst us! GROW ROTARY!

Plan an event or an induction. If you invite us, we’ll be honored to share in your celebrations.
